If you ship certain kinds of consumer products into the U.S., you may be required to register those products with a federal agency before they can be imported starting July 8, 2026. In line with this ShipSavvy created a process that will allow customers to start that registration directly from their portal, no separate website, no extra login. Here's what that means in plain terms.
What is the CPSC?
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is the U.S. government agency responsible for making sure everyday consumer products are safe to use. For certain product categories, the CPSC requires importers to submit a Certificate of Compliance, essentially, documentation confirming the product meets applicable U.S. safety standards before the product can be imported.
What does "e-filing" mean?
"E-filing" simply means submitting that registration information electronically, using the CPSC's own official form, instead of on paper. ShipSavvy's new Register Product via CPSC e-filing feature uses that exact same official CPSC template we haven't created our own version of it so what you fill out is exactly what the CPSC itself asks for.
Why did ShipSavvy build this into the portal?
Previously, this kind of registration would typically be handled outside your regular shipping workflow. We wanted to bring it into ShipSavvy so that:
- You can register products using the same bulk-upload process you already use for other files.
- You always know where things stand, every submission shows a clear status (Pending, Completed, or Declined) right in your portal.
- You get an email notification automatically at each step, instead of needing to check back manually.
Does this apply to me?
This applies if your account ships products that fall under CPSC's registration requirements. If that's the case, your account will have CPSC registration enabled, and you'll see the Register Product via CPSC e-filing button in your portal.
| Not seeing the button but think you should? Or not sure whether your products are affected? Reach out to your ShipSavvy account manager or support team and we'll help you figure it out — there's no harm in asking. |
