Created by Mark Morales, Modified on Tue, 19 May at 3:13 PM by Mark Morales

ShipSavvy now supports CUSMA certification directly in the product catalog. When eligible products are certified, they may qualify for reduced or zero duties at checkout.

1. CUSMA certification is now available in the Product Catalogue

CUSMA certification details can now be added directly to products in the ShipSavvy Product Catalogue.

This allows eligible products to store the required certification information, which can then be used when creating shipments and estimating duties and taxes at checkout.

2. CUSMA fields appear for eligible countries of manufacture

The CUSMA information section appears when the product’s country of manufacture is one of the eligible CUSMA countries:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Mexico

Once one of these countries is selected as the country of manufacture, the CUSMA certification section becomes available on the product details page.

3. Complete the required CUSMA certification fields

Fill out the required CUSMA fields in the product’s certification section.

After the required information has been entered, you can preview the CUSMA certificate to confirm the details before using the product in a shipment.

Once the certificate is available, the product becomes eligible for CUSMA-related duty benefits during checkout.

4. Create a shipment using the CUSMA-certified product

After the product has been certified, create a shipment using that product.

At checkout, select a carrier and review the estimated duties and taxes.

For a CUSMA-certified product, the estimated duties and taxes should show as $0, assuming the product qualifies and all certification details have been completed correctly.

5. Compare with a product that is not CUSMA-enabled

If a product does not have CUSMA certification completed, it is considered not CUSMA-enabled.

When you create a shipment with a non-certified product and select a carrier at checkout, the estimated duties and taxes may show a charge instead of $0.

This helps confirm whether CUSMA certification is active for the product.

Summary

CUSMA certification in ShipSavvy allows eligible products manufactured in the United States, Canada, or Mexico to include certification details directly in the product catalog. Once the required fields are completed and the certificate is available, the product can be used in shipments where applicable CUSMA duty benefits may reduce estimated duties and taxes at checkout.
